Nutcracker Ballet 2007

My daughter Reagan and I went on our second annual trip to see the Nutcracker Ballet yesterday in Cincinnati. My Mother used to take me every year in the Bay Area in California. I was so glad that Reagan made the request to see it again this year herself. It was one of two excursions that I got to enjoy this year . The other was the Tran Siberian Orchestra with both Reagan and my two teenage sons.
My Christmas break is over now and its back to the workshop. I enjoyed it very much, and feel a little refreshed with lots of ideas brewing for the new year.

playing with website

Today I am learning about using different brushes in photoshop, and testing my results . I am trying to compose a slightly different look for the website for the reopening on the 1st, and this is first on my list to teach myself. I often wish that I was an expert web designer, but unfortunately I have to teach myself , and when I do achieve a goal I will immedietely forget how I did it unless I right it all down. This is especially true with java and html.
These brushes are probably elementary to a lot of people , I know they are to my 15 year old son, who gets a kick out of me getting so excited when I do something so basic. I admit to doing the little dance whenever I learn how to do a new trick. Well I'll keep practicing!

Last of the custom orders

These are the last of the custom ornaments that I did this
year. As of midnight tonight my website will be closing for a needed New Years re-do, and some together time with my family. I have one final trip to make to the post office tonight. I will reopen the site on Jan 1st. One more night of no- sleep and then I can wrap some packages, and enjoy the time with my family. And I will probably be out there in all of the craziness for a few last minute items. Next year I'm doing all my shopping in August! ( I won't say how many times I have said that). But usually I am completely done by now. Not so this year!

It's Beginning to Look a Little Like Christmas

Well I have finally got a chance to do a little decorating. I feel a little better about it now. My son came home from college and didn't think it was at all as Christmas-y as it should be (we just barely got some ornaments put up on the tree before he arrived home!) And there are still no cookies. Normally I start baking at the beginning of November. I freeze the dough ,unfrosted cookies etc. and by mid Dec. I literally have around 66 dozen cookies! That is not including what I have scooted aside for my family to eat, and keep at bay, so they don't break into the main stash! I usually do between 35-40 baskets for friends, family , teachers, husband's employees, etc. I have had so many orders and shows ( which has been truly so wonderful) that I have not baked more than a batch here and there that my family has quickly snatched up and eaten. I tease my best friend every year that I will be celebrating Orthadox Christmas which is January 6th and bides me a little more time. This year it may just come true! It won't be 66 dozen but at lease I feel I am caught up enough to make it more Christmas-y for my family and I can work on the gifts I will send to my family in California, and Texas. (post office says they need to be out by the 20th for Priority Mail) I'd better get started!
